What does it mean to be a leader during this time of digital transformation? It means managing multidimensional transformation that involves people, roles, technology, expectations, and risks, all while aiming at an unknown future. There is wild speculation that automation and artificial intelligence will eliminate jobs and lead to mass unemployment, but this fear is unfounded.

The past has shown us that technological revolution is accompanied by the creation of many new types of jobs and a complete change in the way we work. The present digital transformation will lead to the creation of new jobs and shifts in how and why we work. It is an opportunity to re-invent the workplace and to take steps towards better work-life balance, where technology does the heavy lifting and connects people in new and compelling ways. Leaders can mindfully navigate these exciting times. Those that do will shine some light on the unknown and redefine the workplace of tomorrow.

Rapidly improving our quality of life through local government innovation is Jason’s passion.
