April 3, 2024 – 4:00 PM-7:30 PM; Civility in Tumultuous Times: A How-To for Lawyers

CLE, Book Signing and Cocktail Reception featuring Alexandra O. Hudson, daughter of the "Manners Lady" and author The Soul of Civility, Timeless Principles to Heal Society and Ourselves.

NELF cordially invites you to attend an exploration of civility across history, culture and law in-person or via Zoom as part of our Economic Liberty Speaker Series.

Wednesday, April 3, 2024; 4pm-5pm Civility Presentation; 5:30pm-7:30 pm cocktails, book signing, and reception.

Lawyers act within an adversarial system that thrives on divisions and differences between parties, so the question, "How might we flourish personally and professionally with others across differences?" will only grow in importance. Is civility incompatible with zealous representation?

Alexandra Hudson's book, "The Soul of Civility: Timeless Principles to Heal Society and Ourselves" is a sweeping history of social norms across history and culture written in the hope of changing the way you view the role of manners and morals in human social life.

The Wall Street Journal called the book "Intelligent.. edifying... charming… emboldening."

Alexandra Hudson is an award-winning journalist, author, and speaker. She is also the founder of Civic Renaissance, a newsletter and intellectual community dedicated to moral and cultural renewal. Her book, "The Soul of Civility: Timeless Principles to Heal Society and Ourselves," is published by St. Martin's Press this October. We will give a free copy of her book to the first 20 persons who attend this event.

Eligible for CLE credit in CT, NH, VT, RI and ME.
