Event Details

This class provides basic safety & operations training on the CNC plasma cutter. Students will learn CNC and plasma safety, machine setup, and job setup, troubleshooting steps, tool maintenance, and tricks for cutting up to ½" metals. By the end of class, students will take home a hefty steel Vermont bottle opener. Students should have working knowledge of software capable of .DXF export, e.g. Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw, Solidworks, Fusion360, etc.


REMINDER:

Please wear:

- Long pants (cotton, no synthetics)

- Close-toed shoes (leather upper if possible). Boots recommended. No sandals or mesh type sneakers

- Long sleeve cotton shirt (no synthetics) or a short sleeve cotton shirt (protective sleeves available)

- Wear clothes that you do not care about being damaged or stained

- Long hair must be tied back

- Safety glasses are required. If you wear glasses or have prescription safety glasses, bring them

    Alex Hahl

    Alex is a freelance maker and teacher who specializes in metal fabrication. He grew up in the idyllic suburbs of northern Virginia and went on to get a degree in geography from the University of Kansas. After a subsequent career as a pizza artist, he hit the road and found himself working as a commercial fisherman on the coast of Maine. Now in Burlington, Generator is where Alex spends most of his time. His goal in life is to learn how to do everything, or at least everything that interests him.
