Vision:

Building from needs expressed during the IALS conference, this one-and-a-half-day workshop will center on envisioning and creating structures to support teachers as active contributors to school-based research.

Process and Product:

Through discussions, presentations, and working sessions, we will dive into how lab schools can elevate their educators' contributions to educational research.

Specific aims include:

· Helping classroom educators see themselves as holding knowledge and questions that further the field of educational research.

· Elevating school-based inquiry as professional development.

· Sustaining research as a pillar of a laboratory school.

Questions we will explore include:

· How do we create structures that keep this a sustainable element of our schools?

· What supports are needed?

· How can we provide these supports with our limited resources (finances, time, knowledge, space)?

Our goals for participants include the following:

· Defining the next steps for implementation

· Exploring your context-specific purpose as a research site

· Networking and developing community

· Gaining an overview of Improvement Science as a model
