This in-person event will cover the information below:

The Combustion Appliance Zone (CAZ) and HVAC Fundamentals training focuses on ensuring safety and efficiency in homes with combustion appliances during weatherization efforts. It covers the principles of CAZ testing, where professionals assess potential hazards like carbon monoxide leaks, backdrafting, and proper ventilation of combustion gases. HVAC fundamentals are also emphasized, including understanding heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems' operation and maintenance to ensure they work efficiently in weatherized homes. The training highlights the importance of balancing indoor air quality and energy efficiency when making modifications. By mastering CAZ and HVAC fundamentals, weatherization professionals help ensure both safety and performance in energy-efficient homes.

The Gas Testing and Air Sealing training focuses on enhancing safety and energy efficiency in homes undergoing weatherization. It teaches participants how to conduct essential gas leak detection and combustion safety tests to prevent hazards like carbon monoxide poisoning. Air sealing techniques are also covered, emphasizing how to reduce drafts, minimize energy loss, and improve indoor comfort by sealing gaps and cracks in the building envelope. The training highlights the importance of proper ventilation to maintain indoor air quality while ensuring energy efficiency. This combination of gas testing and air sealing ensures that homes are both safe and well-insulated.
