Description of Commercial Mediation Training:


Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) is the procedure to settle dispute without litigation. Currently, Commercial Arbitration is the only available ADR mechanism in Cambodia. In addition, Commercial Mediation is not available neither through the NCAC nor as part of court proceedings. Hence, having other ADR mechanism is much needed to offer diverse choice to business communities.


National Commercial Arbitration Centre will organizing a 5-day professional commercial mediation training course in Phnom Penh between 08-09-28 February and 01-02 March 2025 . The 5-day training course will be conducted by National Commercial Arbitration Centre ( NCAC ).


As part of the course, a formal assessment of candidates' mediation skills and knowledge will be carried out, and only candidates who successfully pass the assessment will be granted a Certificate of Accreditation by the NCAC. The Certificate of Accreditation will be awarded to participants who demonstrate the level of competence to achieve the status of the NCAC Accredited Mediator.


The Commercial Mediation Training course has a maximum capacity of 12 candidates, and it is suggested that they represent the following industries: legal, arbitration, banking & finance, insurance, Insolvency Administrators, accounting, tax, construction. It is suggested that such industries are represented in the mediation training.

Selected trainees should have at least mid-career professionals, or higher, and are in good standing with the professional organizations they belong to. Below are the selection criteria suggested for mediator trainees:

  • University graduation or higher with at least 05 or more years of full-time working experience in one of the following fields: law, arbitration, banking, finance, insurance, accounting, architecture, engineering, or commerce;


  • Having full capacity for civil acts in compliance with the provisions of the Civil code; having good moral character, good prestige, being independent, impartial, objective;


  • Having a good understanding of the law, business, commercial practices and relevant matters;


  • Good standing with the professional organizations they are members of;


  • Having strong commitment to fully participate in the training by attending all training sessions;


  • Possess high reputation within the industry they represent and/or prior experience in the area of conflict resolution;


  • Possess good presentation skill;


  • Having ability to work with clients independently and assess the cases for further mediation work.



Selection Process and Timeline


31thโ€“ 13th January 2025 : Open for registration.



14th โ€“ 20th January 2025: Selected trainees will be notified. Within 03 days after receiving notification, selected trainees are required to make payment to complete the registration process. Failure to make payment, the application is considered withdrawn.


Dated: 08-09-28 February and 01-02 March 2025 : Commercial Mediation Training begins.
