Topic: Critical Thinking Through Visual Art

Time: 8 to 9 pm (Singapore Time)


Our teachers "don't just teach kids to draw and paint"; they make them "better thinkers through art". In this session, participants will find out how to use art to build critical thinking skills for children aged 4 to 6. Our resource speakers will demonstrate various art techniques and vocabulary to help children look at, create and analyse art.

Joranna Ang

Joranna holds a Master of Science in ECE from Wheelock College, USA and a BBA from RMIT, Australia. She served as Senior Principal at Nobleland@Clementi for five years before transitioning to her current role as Head of Centre for Excellence at HQ. With over 18 years of experience in early childhood education, Joranna has also been an adjunct lecturer for more than eight years and spent 10 years as a Training Manager in the corporate sector. 

 

Ho Jir Yee

Jir Yee is a preschool teacher at Nobleland@Clementi. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the Glasgow School of Art and a Diploma in Preschool Education-Teaching. Jir Yee believes that teaching art goes beyond creating; it's about developing critical thinking skills. Through art, she encourages children to observe the world more closely, predict outcomes, evaluate situations, solve problems, and reason through their ideas. 


Doris Liew

Doris is a preschool teacher at Nobleland@Waterway. She earned her Diploma in Preschool Education-Teaching in 2008. Doris believes that fostering critical thinking skills is essential in early childhood education. She views art as a powerful tool to engage children's creativity and encourage them to explore, experiment, and express their ideas.
