Event Details

In the context of the European Union's approval of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), local businesses, especially those exporting goods to the EU, need to be aware of the importance of adapting their business practices to keep pace with changing international climate policies and maintain healthy trade relations with the EU, while taking into account the carbon footprint of their products.

To raise awareness and enhance understanding of the implications of CBAM among industry representatives, public authorities responsible for environmental policy, organizations/associations promoting environmental protection, AmCham Moldova, in collaboration with the USAID Moldova Energy Security Activity (MESA), with the support of the Future Technologies Activity (FTA), funded by USAID, Sweden, and UKaid, organized the "Decoding CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism): Impacts and opportunities for Moldova" webinar on April 26th.

The event aimed to:

- Raising awareness about the existence and implications of CBAM;

- Facilitating the understanding of how the mechanism operates, its goals, and how it may affect businesses, trade, and environmental practices;

- Encouraging preparedness in anticipating the impact of CBAM and encouraging businesses to develop strategies to remain competitive and compliant with evolving global standards;

- Highlighting the importance of sustainable and low-carbon practices for Moldovan businesses;

- Fostering collaboration among different stakeholders.

This activity was supported by the Future Technologies Activity (FTA), funded by USAID, Sweden and UKaid.
