"If you are interested in a course that is an efficient summary of all the Train Pain Modules, whilst learning more about workbooks that facilitate delivery of effective treatments, enriched with innovative ideas on running groups… then this course is for you"

Who is this course for? Healthcare professionals working with patients with chronic health conditions such as chronic pain conditions (eg. CLBP, fibromyalgia), Osteoarthritis, pain in HIV/AIDS, chronic fatigue/ME and Long COVID.

Aims of the course: The 2-day course aims to enable healthcare professionals approach complex chronic conditions in a systematic and effective way to deliver evidence-based interventions (either one-on-one or in groups) to restore patients to their valued life.

Course materials: Participants will be supplied with an updated Pain Education Empowerment Programme (PEEP) workbook, designed to engage patients and to facilitate personal design and delivery.

At the end of this module the participant will be able to reliably demonstrate:

  • How to explain pain mechanisms (Pain Neuroscience Education) appropriately in simple lay terms
  • How to select patients appropriately for individual and group-based interventions
  • How to use screening tools and questionnaires appropriately in assessing and evaluating outcomes of patients
  • How to assess your patient's motivation and stage of change and adapt treatment accordingly
  • How to design and execute an exercise program according to patient profiles
  • How to facilitate goal setting
  • How to deliver a mindfulness or relaxation-based activity
  • How to use self-management tools (contained in the P.E.E.P. workbooks) to adapt a programme appropriately to the healthcare professionals' unique setting and patient population
