Newcastle University in Singapore and the Digital Trust Centre at Nanyang Technological University are co-organising a Dialogue on Digital Trust in AI for Healthcare on 13 November 2024.
The first part of the programme will address strategic issues in AI in the healthcare sector and look at some AI and data innovations that have the potential to disrupt healthcare provision. For example, the use of AI, technology and integrated healthcare systems in home settings can provide preventative health monitoring and heath forecasting capabilities. The impact of such smart health systems in, for example, aged-care settings could have enormous health benefits for aged-care residents.
However, technology used in this way gives rise to significant risks and challenges in managing the security and privacy associated with the deployment of AI and the collection of data. If people have no trust in smart healthcare systems, it will be impossible to implement them. From this perspective, governance, regulation and technical security play an important role in establishing the digital trust which is needed among recipients of healthcare services. The second part of the programme will address the regulatory and confidence-building aspects of AI and data collection in healthcare.
This event will bring together leading international experts in technology, enterprise and regulation in healthcare services. It presents a unique opportunity for healthcare professionals in Singapore to learn about the advances and dangers of the increasing use of AI and associated technology in integrated healthcare systems.
