Julian Gallegos is a PhD-prepared board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Clinical
Nurse Leader (CNL) who has served in different nursing capacities over the past 20 years. He
has clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing, labor and delivery, stroke care, diabetes
management, nursing leadership/management, family practice, general urology, and men’s
health. Dr. Gallegos has been in academia for seven years. Currently, he serves as the Director
of the DNP program at Purdue University – West Lafayette. He is married to his wife of 20 years
who is also a nurse and has a son currently in 3rd grade who wants to be an astronaut. His
MakerHealth Academy journey is about creating something that will improve the quality of life
for suprapubic catheter users. As he embarks on his journey to grow his prototyping knowledge
and skills, he is excited to improve patient care and outcomes and incorporate his learning into
his teaching.
