Donald Borthwick Managing Director: Industrial Structure & Kenya of GRIT A seasoned industry player, Donald has been involved in property development and investment for three decades! His early career was in international corporate finance in London and Paris, before heading up the Africa division of New London plc, an oil services company, gaining extensive continental experience in West and Northern Africa. At New London he performed corporate finance functions and negotiated joint ventures internationally. After returning to South Africa in 1993, he started developing property with Gavin Borthwick in a long-established family company, Maponya Developments. Donald was intimately involved in the growth of Maponya, developing properties to a value in excess of R1 billion. After a long association with Grit through his later employment at Hodari Africa, he joined Grit full-time in 2022. He is a chartered accountant, having graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1983. He served his articles with Deloitte. He is also a chartered management accountant.
Ewan Cameron Director: Africa of Westmont Hospitality Group Westmont Hospitality is a substantial and respected owner of hotel real-estate across four continents. Prior to leading Westmont’s growth in Africa, Ewan fulfilled a number of leadership roles within the continent’s hotel industry, notably with Lonrho, African Sun and IHG. Westmont’s portfolio substantially operates under the mega brand systems of Hyatt, InterContinental Hotels Group, Marriott and Hilton. Ewan was born in Glasgow, Scotland.

Simon’s career in the banking industry spans a number of years, whereby has worked in both South Africa and the UK. More recently, Simon's professional accomplishments include his role in establishing and growing the Mezzanine finance product for Absa CIB Commercial Property Finance in South Africa. Hooman is also the CEO of Century City Property with interests in residential and retail development, property brokerage services and consultancy. Century City recently won the International Property Award for the Best International Residential Development for their Palm Valley development in Nairobi. Raghav Gandhi CEO of ALP Raghav is an experienced real-estate professional with a proven track record of delivering results globally across asset classes. He has jointly led the growth of a major commercial real estate start-up venture in India and headed the development of projects across the MENA region for a major real estate developer in Kuwait, where he was also responsible for optimising returns from a number of underperforming investments. He subsequently established his own consulting practice, which advised GCC families and corporates on real estate transactions and projects in the UK and the Middle East.
