During this “non-legal” presentation he explains the different Social Security disability law and programs, reviews how Social Security analyzes claims and how to prepare so that the strongest case possible is made to the Social Security Administration. Mr. Rabin explains the application process and how months can be shaved from the processing time. Practical hints are provided in how to deal with the bureaucracy, how to communicate with treating physicians, and how to minimize the chance of delays and lost files. Finally, the rules regarding how to return to work while on SSDI and SSI are outlined so that people receiving benefits will have accurate information when making the step back into the work force.

This discussion will de-mystify the application and appeals process, and provide people with disabilities the information they need to protect and assert their rights under the Social Security Act. This is intended to be an open discussion between Mr. Rabin and the audience. Questions are encouraged and materials will outline the subject matter and provide room for notes.

Loretta Woodward Veney was born with a love of life and a positive spirit. The three most important things in her life have always been her family, friends and faith. She loves adventures, traveling, learning something new every day and inspiring others.
Throughout her life, Loretta has chronicled family events through journals, photos, and videos, seeking to capture every moment. After her beloved mother Doris was diagnosed dementia in 2006, Loretta began documenting the details of doctor visits, and recording people, places, and things as a substitute for her Mom's lost memory. The combination of written documentation and her incredible memory became Loretta's first published work in 2013, entitled Being My Mom’s Mom.
Loretta’s second book published in 2017 entitled Refreshment for the Caregiver’s Spirit, is a collection of travel photos taken by Loretta and her late husband Tim. Each scenic photo contains an inspirational message from Loretta intended to lift caregiver’s spirits as they navigate life’s challenges. The designs in a coloring book entitled Colors Flowing from my Mind! were created by Loretta and will be published in February 2019.
Since 2014 Loretta has delivered more than 300 presentations that have inspired audiences throughout the United States. Loretta and her Mom have been featured in articles in the Washington Post, the NY Times, the AARP website and a PBS Documentary featuring Alzheimer’s Caregivers. A 60-minute video of a presentation of Being My Mom’s Mom as well as all of the media articles can be found on the media page at www.lorettaveney.com
