https://www.pvinsight.co.za/Jacqui is the Operations manager at the PVinsight Photovoltaics Testing Laboratory. She manages the technical operations of the laboratory and the maintains the Quality Management System required by ISO 17025 accreditation.
PVinsight (Pty) Ltd is a private company that has spun-out of the Photovoltaics Research Group (PVRG) of the Department of Physics at the Nelson Mandela University. PVinsight (then Photovoltaic Testing Laboratory) received TIA seed funding in 2016 which assisted in the establishment of the lab and the development of novel testing techniques that were included in the offering of the PV testing services. Since the PV Testing lab started in 2014 over 50 000 tests have been performed.
Jacqui also holds the position of Senior Researcher at the Photovoltaics Research Group at Nelson Mandela University. Her background is a PhD in Physics at NMMU in the field of photovoltaic (PV) device characterisation focusing on Electroluminescence (EL) in 2015 and experience with the PV module characterisation techniques such as Current-Voltage (I-V) characterisation, EL, Infrared Imaging and Light Beam Induced Current (LBIC) scans. Current research focuses are module degradation and improving testing techniques and exploring Circular Economy options for the PV industry. She has been awarded a 2023 TIA Seed Fund Grant for the development of criteria for safe reuse of second-hand PV modules and the exploration of potential associated business opportunities.
In total Jacqui has published 11 scientific journal articles in the field of Photovoltaics and has authored or co-authored 6 international conference papers and 32 national conference presentations.
