John Humphrey
His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Africa at Department for Business and Trade (DBT

John Humphrey serves as His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Africa, a position he has held since June 2022.

Before joining the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), John was the Group Chief Executive Officer of Kent HoldCo Limited (KHL), a diversified group comprising five companies with a workforce of 1,500 employees.

From 2012 to 2019, John was associated with the UK Hydrographic Office, a Ministry of Defence Trading Fund. He served as Chief Executive and Accounting Officer from 2015, having previously held the roles of Chief Commercial Officer and Deputy Chief Executive.

Earlier in his career, John gained extensive experience in the private sector, where he held various commercial, general management, and executive positions both in the UK and internationally, primarily within the technology sector.

John is a Younger Brother of Trinity House and, until recently, served as a Lay Trustee of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy.
