Brief Description:
Financial instruments make up almost the entirety of a financial institution's statement of condition. Prevailing accounting and financial reporting standards, such as the Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) 9, as well as prudential banking guidelines like Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Circular no. 1011, require the diligent accounting and transparent financial reporting of financial instruments. Complex impairment rules and special requirements further complicate the handling of financial instruments for banks.
It is therefore crucial that banking professionals possess strong working knowledge of and reasonable proficiency in the accounting and financial reporting of financial instruments. This seminar program is part of a three-module Deep Dive series on financial instruments.
