Generator's Full STEAM Ahead Program is a 5-week afterschool maker camp for students in grades 5-8. Each session explores a unique set of hands-on experiences, tool sets, and materials. Brainstorm, build, create, and take advantage of everything this program has to offer at Burlington's favorite makerspace!


Week 1: Custom Vinyl Shirts

Thursday, March 13, 3:30-5:30PM

Students will design a custom shirt from start to finish working with Adobe Illustrator (professional graphic design software), our vinyl cutter and heat press.


Week 2: Ox-Yoke Puzzle

Thursday, March 20, 3:30-5:30PM

The Ox-Yoke is an old farming tool and we're going to turn it into a puzzle! Students will learn basic hand tools and wood working practices.


Week 3: Metal Art

Thursday, March 27, 3:30-5:30PM

This week students will learn basic metalsmithing by making a pendant, necklace, charm, personalized coin, or a dog-tag. You decide!


Week 4: Wooden Caddy

Thursday, April 3, 3:30-5:30PM

During this session students will develop their woodworking skills by assembling and decorating a wooden caddy they can use to store and transport a variety of items! This is a popular, confidence building, project!


Week 5: Electromagnetic Desktop Swing

Thursday, April 10, 3:30-5:30PM

Curious about electricity, LED lights, and soldering? During this fun project we'll practice soldering with a printed circuit board, build a swing powered by an electromagnet, and broaden our understanding of electricity.

Dates: Thursdays from March 13 to April 10 (5 weeks)

Time: 3:30pm - 5:30pm

    Lead Instructor & Curriculum Specialist at Generator

    Syd hails from Rochester New York where he discovered a passion for technology, hands-on learning, and helping others. After graduating from SUNY Oswego in 2017 with a B.S. in Technology Education, he began teaching in public schools in the Hudson Valley region of New York. There he developed and taught a myriad of courses such as Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Civil Engineering, Computer Aided Design and more. In 2021, he furthered his understanding of the relationship between problem solving and the environment, earning his M.S. in Biomimicry from Arizona State University.
    When he is not at Generator, Syd enjoys rock climbing across New England, fly fishing and fly tying, baking, Dungeons and Dragons, and spending time with his family in Vermont, New York, and Maine.
