YB Tengku Dato’ Sri Zafrul Bin Tengku Abdul Aziz is Finance Minister of Malaysia.

Previously, he was the Group Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director of CIMB Group Holdings Berhad, a leading ASEAN universal bank and a world leader in Islamic finance with presence in 16 countries worldwide. He was also the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director of CIMB Bank Berhad and President Commissioner of PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk.

With over 22 years of experience in the financial services sector, specialising in Investment Banking, Tengku Zafrul’s held senior positions with Maybank Investment Bank Berhad, Maybank Kim Eng Holdings, Citigroup Malaysia, Kenanga Holdings Berhad and Avenue Securities. He also has experience as an entrepreneur by setting up Tune Money Sdn Bhd, Asia’s first “no-frills” online financial service provider.

Tengku Zafrul was a member of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), representing Malaysia in promoting intra-trade and collaboration within Asia Pacific. Further, as an advocate of Malaysia’s socioeconomic development, he sat on the Board of the National Sports Council of Malaysia.

He is also an Honorary Commander of the Navy Volunteer Reserve under the Royal Malaysian Navy.

Tengku Zafrul graduated from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Economics and Accounting and obtained a Master of Arts (MA) in Finance and Management from the University of Exeter, United Kingdom. He also holds a Fellow Chartered Banker with the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers.

William Russell took office as Lord Mayor of the City of London in November 2019. To ensure continuity of leadership during the current COVID-19 pandemic, he will serve a second term and remain in office until November 2021.

With over thirty years’ experience in the financial and business City, including holding senior positions in the national and international Banking sector, William started his career with First Boston before joining Merrill Lynch as an Investment Banker. He is currently Chair of CDAM, a London based Asset Management business and Senior Advisor to STJ Advisors.

William is on the Board of Innovate Finance, the industry body for the UK Fintech community. An educational entrepreneur, he is Co-Founder of Knightsbridge School and a Director of Knightsbridge School International. William is also a Director of Congham Hall Hotel and Red Savannah Travel. He is a member of the Campaign Board for the philanthropic campaign, Durham Inspired.

William has many current charitable interests including the Guildhall School of Music and Drama; the Royal Theatrical Support Trust; Place2Be, a children’s mental health charity; Charterhouse and Morden College.

William was elected Alderman for the Ward of Bread Street in 2013, has served on many of the City of London Corporation Committees and is currently a Governor of the City of London School for Girls.

William is a Court Assistant to the Haberdashers’ and Feltmakers’ Livery Companies and an Honorary Liveryman of the Paviors’ Company.

William is the 692nd Lord Mayor and the fifth member of his family to be Lord Mayor in the past 110 years. His grandfather, Sir Ian Bowater, was Lord Mayor from 1969 - 1970 and his great grandfather, Sir Frank Bowater, from 1938 - 1939.

His Excellency Charles Hay MVO started as the British High Commissioner to Malaysia in March 2019 in succession to Vicki Treadell CMG MVO.

Prior to Malaysia, Mr Hay was the British Ambassador to South Korea from 2015 to 2018. During his time in the British diplomatic services, he has been posted to the Czech Republic, Spain and the UK Representation to the EU in Brussels. Charles was also the Director of Consular Services in London, responsible for assisting British nationals and in crisis management worldwide. Before joining the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1993, he was a Captain in the British Army.

Mr Hay is married to Pascale Sutherland and they have two daughters. He has a Master in Business Administration as well as a BA in Philosophy and Politics. His hobbies include golf, diving and archery

Tengku Dato’ Ab. Aziz bin Tengku Mahmud is currently the Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) of PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn. Berhad, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad. He is responsible for the development of Merdeka 118 precinct project, comprising a 118-storey tower, observation deck, hotel, retail mall and residential towers.

Prior to his appointment as the CEO of PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn. Berhad on 1 April 2010, he was the Head, Property Development of Sime Darby Property Berhad from August 2008 to March 2010. He was responsible for the Property Development Operations in addition to the Hospitality, Leisure and Asset Management of the Property Division. He also served Kumpulan Guthrie Berhad as Head, Property and the CEO, Guthrie Property Development Holdings Berhad from 2005 to 2007.

Datin Seri Sunita Rajakumar is a professional independent director and a strong advocate of the importance of governance in general and risk management in particular. She founded Climate Governance Malaysia which is the country chapter of the World Economic Forum’s Climate Governance Initiative, is a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia, promotes gender diversity on boards with the 30% Club, a member of the Global Advisory Board of Nottingham University's School of Business and the Advisory Panel of the UN Global Compact Malaysia’s Sustainability Center of Excellence, and is a workstream lead for the CEO Action Network, an industry led initiative to increase sustainability and climate resilience.. She is Chair of Caring Pharmacy and independent director of Bursa-listed Dutch Lady Milk Industries, MCIS Insurance (a member of the Sanlam group) and Zurich General Insurance, as well as trustee of 5 charitable foundations.

Adam Ng is Sustainable Finance Expert at WWF-Malaysia and represents WWF in the subcommittees of the Joint Committee on Climate Change, co-chaired by the central bank and securities commission with members from Bursa Malaysia and 19 financial institutions. Prior to WWF, he was Deputy Director (Research Management Centre) and Associate Professor at INCEIF where he contributed to the development of the Value-based Intermediation Financing and Investment Impact Assessment Framework, CIBAFI’s global survey on responsible business practices and a regional bank's sustainable finance framework. He was Head of CEO’s Office and Corporate Strategy at the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation (established by 11 central banks and a multilateral development bank) and started his career at the Central Bank of Malaysia. He completed his postdoctoral research as Securities Commission Malaysia-Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Scholar-in-Residence in Islamic Finance, Research Associate at Global Economic Governance Programme and Bachelor of Civil Law degree at University of Oxford.

Bilal Parvaiz joined Standard Chartered Saadiq (Malaysia) in 2014 as part of the Islamic Corporate Team. He leads the product management team and is also responsible for some of the regional initiatives in the ASEAN markets.

Prior to his move to Malaysia, he was with Standard Chartered Saadiq (UAE) in 2010 as part of the Global Islamic Banking team managing various portfolios including Structured Trade Finance and Transaction Banking. He played an instrumental role in originating various landmark transactions across GCC, South Asia and ASEAN.

He started his career in Corporate Banking; as a Management Trainee with Bank Alfalah Islamic Banking (part of Abu Dhabi Group) and Emirates Islamic Bank in 2004 and 2007 respectively.

He holds an MBA with various academic and professional qualifications including CIMA-Islamic Finance Qualification UK, Omega – Credit Skills Assessment (CSA). He is also an Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIF).

He is happily married with one daughter and enjoys travelling and playing golf.

Daniel is the Global Head of Sustainable Finance for Standard Chartered Bank. Daniel has two decades of banking experience in emerging markets, with a particular focus on Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, providing advice to companies, institutions and governments on their ESG and credit ratings and raising equity and debt. Daniel has driven a number of a market firsts including the launch of the first Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) money market and retail deposits by a major bank; the World’s first Sovereign Blue Bond for the Republic of Seychelles; the first World Bank IDA sovereign bond for the Republic of Ghana and Standard Chartered’s inaugural SDG aligned bond, which was six times oversubscribed. Standard Chartered was awarded Best Bank for Sustainable Finance by Global Finance in 2019. Daniel has helped raise several billion dollars for health, social development and infrastructure. He set up and ran Standard Chartered’s USD 1bn fund to finance the fight against COVID19 and created the post-Ebola Reconstruction Facility for Sierra Leone.

Gilles Pascual is a Partner in the Strategy and Transactions practice of EY, based in Singapore where he leads the firm’s activities in the Power & Renewables sector in Southeast Asia. Gilles has over two decades of experience in the Asian power markets, initially as a banker and now as a trusted advisor. He has helped clients develop over 20 GW of energy capacity and raised over US$30 billion of debt and equity capital. He provides management consulting services to boards and the C-suite to create shareholder value, assists clients in their transition to renewable energy and a low carbon economy, and advises on project development and financing. Gilles is the programme director for the UK Government Prosperity Fund’s ASEAN Low Carbon Energy Programme, a 3-year ODA programme aimed at promoting greater activity in the Green Finance and Energy Efficiency space in ASEAN.

Karen Westley is Shell’s Group Environment Vice-President. She has a BS in Human Biology from Stanford University and an MSc from Yale University in Tropical Ecology. She spent six years working for a large international humanitarian organization: CARE International. She carried out poverty assessments and designed humanitarian response and poverty alleviation programmes in over a dozen counties, including Kosovo, Zimbabwe, Togo, Ghana, Nepal and Bangladesh.

She then joined the Shell Foundation in 2001, as part of the start-up team, designing and implementing the Foundation’s strategy and managing energy and poverty programmes. She joined the Social Performance Management Unit in Shell International in 2005. In the Social Performance team, Karen was the focal point for the Exploration and Production Business and worked on social impact assessment, community engagement and social investment, developing policies, carrying out social performance reviews and working directly with operations to improve their social performance.

She then held the Social Performance Manager and Head of Social Investment roles in Shell, covering all businesses and locations. In 2013 she took on a new challenge in the commercial part of Shell - setting up a team and capability to manage the non-technical risks and opportunities associated with Shell’s Integrated Gas business.

Then she went on to lead a team in the development of innovative value propositions across the gas value chain as Vice-President for Business Innovation. Her last role was as Global Carbon Solutions Manager for Shell and Global Opportunity Manager for Carbon Capture and Storage.

She lives in Kuala Lumpur with her two daughters.

Mark Arthun is the Site Leader for Smith & Nephew’s greenfield manufacturing site, which is currently under construction in Penang, Malaysia. The new facility will be a LEED Silver certified, world-class manufacturing site, and under Mark’s leadership will aim to achieve zero waste to landfill and 100% renewable energy. Mark’s scope of work involves overseeing the entire project, from the initial building construction to the eventual manufacturing and distribution of Orthopaedic products around the globe. He is an expert in developing and deploying operational strategies in medical device and aerospace manufacturing operations. An Industrial Engineer by training, Mark has held leadership roles at Abbott, Alere, and Boeing. Mark has just recently relocated from the United States to Penang with his wife, Jocelyn.

Promod Dass is the Deputy Group CEO of RAM and CEO of RAM Sustainability.

He leads RAM Group’s Sustainability Services and Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) analytics. Promod has accumulated 25-years in the financial services industry including 20 years at RAM Group.

Promod is also a member of Principles for Responsible Investment’s Advisory Committee on Credit Ratings.
