2023 was the hottest year on record, with 2024 likely to surpass it. This talk will explore the impact of climate change, the roles of the private sector, consumers, and policymakers, and ways how to fight global warming.

Main focus will be on the buildings and construction sector which is by far the largest emitter of greenhouse gases, accounting for a staggering 37% of global emissions. Tools and strategies will be presented to achieve the Net-Zero and Climate Positive Standard for new and existing buildings.

The talk will conclude with a cost-effective Net-Zero energy project from the owner`s perspective which did not only significantly reduce the energy bill of the building but did improve the overall health and well-being of the building occupants.
