LGBTQ+ inclusion is a topic that is often forgotten when speaking about social housing tenants. but there is lots of great work happening across the UK to ensure that LGBTQ+ people feel included and safe in their homes.

Then this webinar is for you! You'll learn about the different groups, the changes they support and make, and also hear about some of the topics that matter most to LGBT+ tenants- and how you can support them!

    Ged 'Toni' Mcloughlin

    Ged (they/them) is a gender fluid customer of Stockport Homes where they have been a tenant for just over five years . In 2021 Ged joined Rainbow Roofs , the customer led group for LGBT+ social housing tenants , and explains " I joined the group because I am passionate about improving the lives of LGBT tenants". "Stigma in social housing can be extremely damaging and lead to tenants feeling degraded, isolated and worthless".

    Kevin O'Neill

    Kevin (he/him) is a tenant in a housing association property and has been a member of Rainbow roofs for over two years.

    Now retired from a long career in retail clothing supply to most of the UK and European retailers sourcing from the UK, India, Bangladesh, Morocco and China and developing international teams of sales and designers.

    He has always had keen interest in housing and social housing and through this became a Knowledge Ambassador representing Salford City Council in a EU initiative called Urbact ( Re Block)
    This entailed working with ten other European cities (some new EU members, ex-soviet) to revive high rise blocks for cohesive and green neighbourhoods. The aim was to share knowledge on creating integrated diverse, successful communities to combat poverty.

    EDI Specialist at Wythenshawe Community Housing Group

    Lili Vetter (She/They) is the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Specialist at Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG). Alongside her role at WCHG she is co-chair of HouseProud North West and a HouseProud Pledge advisory board member on a national level. They also facilitate Rainbow Roofs which is an LGBTQ+ group supporting social housing customers across the North of England to make positive change within the sector. Lili embodies equality, diversity and inclusion in that they do, working to influence the sector as the Greater Manchester Housing Provide EDI groups vice chair. They are continually working to create a safe, inclusive environment for all customers in their homes and communities that they live.

    Andrew White (he/him) is Head of Independent Living and member of the Leadership team at Irwell Valley Homes, based in Salford and operating across Greater Manchester. Andrew has over 25 years’ experience working in social housing in the fields of homelessness, supported housing in all its forms, tenancy sustainment, as well as safeguarding, commissioning and development. Andrew is a member and co-chair of HouseProud NorthWest, and a board member of HouseProud, the national group. Committed to ensuring all social housing customers can live well in their homes and communities, Andrew promotes equality, diversity and inclusion across all areas of Irwell Valley’s operation, whilst influencing other registered providers through the reach and influence of HouseProud.
