Event Details

The Hydrogen Working Group is a focused interest group under the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS), aiming to bring together experts and key players to provide vision, direction and guidance in the development and implementation of hydrogen projects in and outside Singapore. This is in line with Singapore's Net Zero ambitions by 2050.


The Group is Chaired by Mr Koh Chiap Khiong, Head of Singapore, Southeast Asia and China, Sembcorp Industries

    Kavita Gandhi has an extensive background in environment and developmental sector spanning over last 20 years. Kavita has been involved in multi-dimensional projects like United States Asia Environmental Partnership (US-AEP) and was Instrumental in setting up of Clean Technology Environmental Management Centre (CTEM) in the Singapore Manufacturer’s Association. She has experience working with environmental sector startups and SMEs in her capacity as a manager of the Singapore Association for Environmental Companies (SAFECO). Kavita was one of the key personnel involved in setting up the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore and securing a grant from SPRING Singapore to run programs in the area of local enterprise development, market development and training & conferences for clean energy industry. She also represents the association in various government and non-government committees related to clean energy. She was instrumental in developing and managing some unique programs like the SME Energy Efficiency outreach as well cleantech incubator. Kavita has an MSc in Environmental Management from Wye College, University of London.

    Seated in the office of the Group President & CEO, Mr Wong is responsible for streamlining the Group’s strategic plans and key initiatives as a leading energy and urban solutions provider. Prior to joining Sembcorp, Mr Wong was CEO of Mitbana Pte Ltd, a joint venture company of Mitsubishi Corporation and Surbana Jurong. Mr Wong also held various other senior roles including Deputy Managing Director of Surbana Jurong Capital, Group Director in the Chairman’s Office, and General Manager of Surbana Myanmar.

    Mr Wong is a member of the Forum of Young Global Leaders with the World Economic Forum. He also sits on the Executive Committee of the Urban Land Institute in Singapore and is a member of the Singapore Urban Redevelopment Authority’s International Panel of Experts. Science from Columbia University.

    Jia Yong is a member of the National Energy Transformation Office (NETO) which was set up under EMA to plan and coordinate efforts across the whole-of-government to transform how energy is produced, transported, and used. He works with public sector agencies and private sector companies on the introduction and adoption of hydrogen and its derivatives, especially for the power sector, , including developing plans and policies, and R&D. Prior to joining EMA, he has spent time in the private sector, and holds an MSc in Environmental Management from NUS.
