view moreMs Sujata Carlyle has been working at the DFFE for the past 14 years. She has an Environmental Science background, specializing in Environmental Monitoring and Modelling. Having completed her studies at the University of Joensuu, Finland, she gained insight to Environmental Law at an international level. The learned principles have assisted her in the development and co-ordination of integrated environmental management legislation / policies in the South African context.
Additionally, she has been actively involved in work related to National Environmental Authorization System (NEAS), NEMA Section 24H, the EIA Pro-Bono Project, Capacity Building and Training and NEMA Section S24G. She is currently responsible for the NEMA S24G Fining committee at DFFE, the EIA Pro Bono Project and Training and Capacity building related to Section 24G and occasionally NEMA Section 30A.- PD
Phila Dlamini
Environmental Management Inspector grade B at DFFE
view morePhila Dlamini is currently working for the department of forestry, Fisheries and the Environment as Environmental Management Inspector grade B. He has served the department for the past 12 years. He holds a BSc Honors degree in Environment Science, a Post graduate Diploma in Business Management and ; and BSc and Diploma in Agricultural Education from different institutions.
He ensures that facilities are compliant to the requirements of NEMA Section 30. He also conducts inspections on Environmental Authorisations and Waste Management Licenses.
In addition to the above, he also conducts inspections on a number of regulations developed from Multilateral Agreements namely; ODS, POPs and asbestos regulations. 
Franz Scheepers
Environmental Control Officer & Environmental Management Inspector (Grade 2) Reactive Inspections Compliance: Environmental Impact and Pollution at DFFE
view moreMr. Scheepers has been working for the South African Government in the Environmental Management Field for the preceding 24 years. He joined DEFF 13 years ago and has been actively involved in inter alia Interpretation Queries Responses, drafting of the EIA Regulations and associated Listing Notices, drafting of the Instrument Regulations, Pro-Bono work, Capacity Building, Training, Stakeholder Engagement Facilitation, Legislative Support (e.g. Bills, Regulations. Litigation and Appeals) and Technical Support (Protocols, Standards, Policies, Environmental Management Instruments, Standards etc.). He has earlier this year been transferred to DFFE’s Directorate Compliance: Environmental Impact and Pollution and is responsible for, amongst other, compliance inspections, joint national compliance interventions and matters pertaining to Section 30 of NEMA.
