Event Details

As supporters, Indonesia has an insatiable appetite for English football, particularly the Premier League. More recently, Indonesian investors have shown an appetite for investing in lower league English clubs and partnerships for youth development.

In this webinar we talk to two Indonesian investors who have taken stakes in Tranmere Rovers and Oxford United respectively. What is the motivation? Why these clubs? Do these investments serve a more diverse range of business relationships and trading interests? Are they blazing a trail for even greater stakeholder interest?

Tranmere Rovers is located across the River Mersey and a short distance from Liverpool, commercially the sister city of Surabaya. We also talk to the Chairman of Tranmere Rovers about his relationship with Surabaya. He was formerly on the Board of the English Football Association. So, in addition to discussing the impacts of foreign investment in the lower leagues, we also take a look at how COVID has impacted Championship League 1 and what innovations we can expect to keep the English game literally on top of the world.

BritCham invites you to join us for unique insight into the world's most fascinating game and compelling business as we welcome Mark Palios, Chairman of Tranmere Rovers, Emmanuel L. Wanandi (Wandi), Director of Santini Group and investor in Tranmere Rovers, and Anindya Bakrie, CEO & President of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk. and investor in Oxford United.
