[IN-PERSON] Who Let the PETs Out? Unleashing Privacy Enhancements: 2024 AsiaDPO PDP Workshop – Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs)
Facilitated by Azhar Azib, a member of the AsiaDPO management committee and representative of the Data-Driven Marketing Association of Singapore, we will host an exclusive Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs) workshop for our members before Personal Data Protection Week.
In today's data-rich and digitalised business environment, organisations are presented with abundant opportunities for innovation and growth. However, with these opportunities come increased concerns about data privacy and protection. As Data Protection Officers (DPOs), it is essential to understand Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs) to navigate these challenges effectively.
This scenario-workshop is designed to provide DPOs with a comprehensive appreciation of PETs, their functionalities, and their applications in safeguarding data privacy. It will include a primer on PETs, introducing various technologies, what they do, trade-offs between similar technologies and examples of how PETs can be combined to address various situations.
Participants will then work in group in a desk-top exercise where they will assemble PETs combinations to address various situations.
This workshop is not technical; instead, it focuses on empowering participants to conceptualise PET solutions to address various privacy challenges.
Workshop Objectives
1. Understanding PETs: Participants will gain a broad understanding of different PETs, including their purpose, functionalities, and mechanisms and the complexities associated with assembling and implementing PET solutions.
2. Exploring Applications: Participants will explore real-world scenarios where PETs can be applied to enhance data privacy in digitalised businesses.
3. Creating Conceptual Solutions: Participants will have the opportunity to brainstorm and create conceptual solutions using PETs to address specific privacy challenges in their organisations.
4. Collaborative Learning: The workshop encourages collaboration and knowledge sharing among participants to foster innovative approaches to privacy protection.

3. Practical strategies for conceptualising and implementing PETs solutions to enhance privacy protection.
