Indo-Danish collaboration in a new geopolitical reality

India and geopolitical shifts

The world as we have known it for decades is changing. Denmark and Europe are facing geopolitical shifts that requires us to remain calm and collected - but most importantly, to take action. In a world as unpredictable as ever, India is emerging as a reliable and almost predictable partner.

India's economy is expected to continue its impressive growth of around 6-7% and will soon become the world's third largest economy. With a growing and increasingly affluent middle class, world-class talent, and an ambitious green agenda, India is an attractive market with a huge potential for Danish companies.

EU-India relations

Trumps reciprocal tariffs have destabilized international trade and no trading partner to the U.S. can expect to avoid a clash. However, there are indications that the US and India are working on a strategic partnership as well as an Indo-US Free Trade Agreement.

The EU-India Free Trade Agreement has been under negotiation for more than 18 years. With the geopolitical shifts and the uncertainty we are now facing - and with Trump and Musk trying to woo India - it has never been more urgent to finalize that agreement.

India's foreign minister recently stated that the EU-India relationship is more important than ever - and that India is ready. It seems that this invitation reached Brussels as Ursula von der Leyen, in an unprecedented manner, will lead her entire new European Commission team on a visit to Delhi in late February.

In this unpredictable world it is about time that we push for closer ties with a predictable India.

Indo-Danish collaboration in a new geopolitical reality

With this seminar we want to highlight and discuss the opportunities that India presents as a market, trading partner, and investment destination in a time where we see significant uncertainty and geopolitical shifts.

Joining this seminar you can expect to learn more about

  • Denmark's and EU's ambitions for collaboration with India going forward
  • What India's geopolitical ambitions are
  • What India has to offer in an increasingly uncertain world
