Event Details

Participants will learn how to use the design capabilities of Fusion 360. First, students will learn to navigate the user interface by exploring several Fusion 360 models. Next, they will learn how to create and modify their own models using extrudes, revolves, holes, fillets, and chamfers.


Learning Objectives

After this activity, students should be able to:

  • Comfortably navigate the user interface to view and inspect models
  • Understand how sketches are used as the foundation for features
  • Create sketches and use dimensions and constraints to control sketch elements
  • Create models using extrude, revolve, hole, fillet, and chamfer features
  • Create a new plane and use it for a feature
  • Find resources for troubleshooting and further learning

    Keith is a freelance mechanical design engineer with decades of experience in a wide variety of fields. He has worked on teams designing racecars, sensors, wind turbines, solar tracking systems, sports equipment, machinery, and more. He loves to design, build, test, and redesign for continual improvement. He is passionate about renewable energy, efficiency, and conservation, and volunteers on his town's Energy Committee. Keith lives in South Burlington, VT, in a home that he upgraded to be fossil-fuel-free and net positive energy, producing more energy from the sun than it uses. He enjoys biking, hiking, snowboarding, unicycling, reading, and is learning Mandarin Chinese.
