    Director of Asset Management at New York City Department of Transportation

    Maddalena Romano is the Director of Asset Management at NYCDOT. She has been involved in the GIS field since 2001, with the bulk of her experience dedicated to GIS for emergency management planning and Transportation Asset Management. In 2013, she received her Master of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and a GIS Professional certification from the GIS Certification Institute. She has taught Introductory GIS at Hunter College, as well as other courses in geology and geography at Hunter College, Queens College, and LIU/CW Post Campus. She has presented at numerous professional conferences, most recently the 2019 Transportation Research Board in Washington, DC; belongs to a number of professional societies, has published her work with colleagues, and is currently collaborating on future research projects.
    Additionally, she has been awarded the Above and Beyond Award for 2017, 2018, and 2019 for her contributions to the NYCDOT. She will be presenting today on the Spatial Data Program, a program that she initiated at NYCDOT, and on how other agencies can implement similar initiatives.
