Event Details

Established in 2015, Jakarta Smart City runs on six pillars: smart governance, smart living, smart people, smart mobility, smart economy, and smart environment. These serve as a guide for the provincial government to formulate specific development objectives for Jakarta. The current coronavirus outbreak gives the integration of digital technologies even more importance for the urban development of Jakarta to ensure equitable and sustainable development.

The office which oversees the Jakarta Smart City initiative is led by Yudhistira Nugraha, our key panelist in this webinar. It provides opportunities to understand current priorities of the initiative and future plans of the Jakarta Provincial Government. We will also discuss possible opportunities for private investments and collaborations with the public sector in the implementation of the Smart City programme.

Yudhistira Nugraha is a senior member of the Indonesian Government, currently assigned to Director of Jakarta Smart City - the Provincial Government of Jakarta. He had been working for more than 13 years at the Ministry of Communications and Informatics. His last assignment at the Ministry was the Deputy Director for E-Government Services in Economic Affairs.

Yudhistira holds a D.Phil. in Cyber Security from the University of Oxford. He is also a Data Protection Officer (ECPC-B DPO) certified by the European Centre of Privacy and Cybersecurity (ECPC) of Maastricht University, The Netherlands. Also, Yudhistira is a professional lecturer and research associate at Telkom University in the field of privacy, security, smart city, and health Informatics.

Leonardi Kawidjaja is a structural and geotechnical engineer with interests in high-rise buildings, elevated and underground railways structures, deep basements and structural dynamics. He has special interests in design automation and performance-based seismic design.

He is a Licenced Structure Engineer and leads the structure + geotechnical engineering team in Jakarta. He has been with Arup in London, Istanbul, San Francisco, Singapore, Manila, Hongkong and Tokyo before settled back in Jakarta.

Recent project works include leading and managing structure design of underground and elevated MRT stations, tall buildings > 200 m, deep basements up to 7 levels in Jakarta.

He also lectures Earthquake Engineering and Building Construction Design at Tarumanagara University, Jakarta.

Rainer Heufers is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Indonesian Policy Studies in Jakarta, Indonesia. Being strictly non-partisan and not-for-profit, CIPS suggests policies that are based on the belief that only civil, political, and economic freedom allows Indonesia to prosper. CIPS policy proposals are being formulated to support current decision making processes in the legislative and executive branches of the Indonesian government. Core work areas include food security and agriculture, education policies, as well as the improvement of economic opportunities for low-income households.
Heufers is also the founder and Managing Director of Siap Solutions Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-based training and consulting firm that provides strategic counseling, public policy consulting, leadership training, organizational development and other services. He is also a Senior Fellow of the Atlas Network. Based in Washington DC Atlas has 488 partner think tanks in 97 countries who share the belief in individual freedom and who engage in the mission to remove barriers to human flourishing.
