Join us for our January Chapter Meeting were we will have guest speakers, Azure Mach and Sumer Shropshire from Windham School District (WSD). WSD was established by the Texas Board of Corrections in October 1969, as authorized by the Texas Legislature, to provide educational opportunities to students incarcerated in state prisons. WSD was named after James M. Windham, who served on the Texas Board of Corrections for 24 years.

The WSD began with a staff of eight instructors and grew along with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). Today the WSD is one of the largest correctional education systems in the nation, offering a variety of literacy, life skills, vocational and post-secondary classes to eligible students incarcerated in the Correctional Institutions Division of the TDCJ.

We have received the unfortunate news that our Treasurer has submitted her resignation as of January 1, 2023. We all wish her well and appreciate her time on the Board and as Treasurer. With this news we have an immediate need to fill the Treasurer position (current Austin chapter members only). The responsibility for administration of the Chapter's finances is shared by all Chapter Officers and Directors, but the day-to-day record keeping, collection and disbursement of funds and monthly reporting is the responsibility of the Chapter Treasurer. A candidate does not need to be a CPA for this role, but basic accounting knowledge is helpful. Our chapter has many great members to guide and help you with the duties and responsibilities that come with the position - should you be interested.
