What is Jr. LJC (Jr. Leadership Johnson County)?

  • Jr. LJC is an exciting program just for high school sophomores and juniors. Learn to meet challenges, participate in hands-on activities, meet some of our government leaders, prepare for job interviews, and more! We'll visit many different pockets of the community and maybe...just maybe, you will see the community that you live in a different light than before you started the program. You'll build self-confidence and leadership skills so you can make a positive impact on where you live.
  • First class: October 10th, 2024
  • In April, we'll have a graduation reception to celebrate all that you have learned alongside a day full of fun and adventure as we explore a few of the touristic spots in Johnson County.

Am I eligible? Here are the criteria:

  • High School Sophomore or Junior in Johnson County (or home school)
  • GPA is at least 3.0
  • Attendance is less than 5 days missed
  • Demonstrate a history of community service
  • Have leadership potential
  • Submitting a completed form

How do you apply?

  • Complete the above form in its entirety.
  • Applications are due by September 10th
  • Participants will be notified and scheduled for an interview.

How much does it cost?

  • This program is free thanks to local community sponsors!
  • Please contact your counselor and/or principal for a recommendation to participate.

How much time is required to participate in the Jr. Leadership Johnson County?

  • Jr. LJC typically meets 8:00 am-3:15 pm on the third Wednesday of every month, from October to April. Please note that there are a few exceptions. Of course, we'll let you know in ample time so you know where to go and what we're doing.

How will Jr. Leadership Johnson County help me and our community?

  • Each class gets to meet local business and organization owners/founders/leaders in Clarksville and Johnson County. You can start building your professional network as early as a sophomore or junior in high school (which is so important when thinking about applying for college, joining the workforce, or just looking for more opportunities to be involved in the community)!
  • We'll meet at the respective schools on each day of the program. Again, we'll let you know where you're supposed to show up. Oh, and you'll get free lunch!
