What is Jr. LJC (Jr. Leadership Johnson County)?

  • Jr. LJC is an exciting program just for high school sophomores and juniors. Learn to meet challenges, participate in hands-on activities, meet some of our government leaders, prepare for job interviews, and more! We'll talk about social media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn), assess your personality, and celebrate all you've accomplished! You'll build self-confidence and leadership skills so you can make a positive impact on where you live.
  • First class: November 17, 2021
  • In May, we'll hold a graduation reception to celebrate your hard work and success in the program, and you can invite your friends and relatives.

Am I eligible? Here are the criteria:

  • High School Sophmore or Junior in Johnson County (or home school)
  • GPA is at least 3.0
  • Attendance is less than 5 days missed
  • Demonstrate a history of community service
  • Have leadership potential
  • Submitting a completed form

How do you apply?

  • Complete the above form in its entirety.
  • Applications are due by November 8th
  • Participants will be notified by November 12th

How much does it cost?

  • This program is free thanks to local community sponsors!
  • Please contact your counselor and/or principal for a recommendation to participate.

How much time is required to participate in the Jr. Leadership Johnson County?

  • Jr. LJC typically meets 8:00 am-3:15 pm on the third Wednesday of every month, November to May. Please note that there are a few exceptions. Of course, we'll let you know in ample time so you know where to go and what we're doing.

How will Jr. Leadership Johnson County help me and our community?

  • Each class does a community project… and you know college admissions counselors love those.
  • We'll meet at the Respective Schools (except for a few rare instances). Again, we'll let you know where you're supposed to show up. Oh, and you'll get free lunch!

Community Development, Technology and Sustainability

Students will be picked up from the schools and transported to the Chamber for an over view of Community Development projects in Johnson County. Then a walking tour of downtown Clarksville to learn about the buildings that are being revitalized for new businesses. Stopping by Clarksville Connected Utilites for an overview of the Fiber project, tour of the Solar fields and Water Treatment plants.
