Bobby Downes

Downes holds both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from California Polytechnic State University. In the early 1990's, after a three-year teaching stint in public education, Bobby spent several years leading teams of missionaries into more than 20 countries as an ambassador.

In 1999, Bobby founded ChristianCinema.com, the largest selection of faith-affirming and family-approved movies. The company specializes in title curation and consumer marketing of faith-based films and has the respect of the industry as one of the leading key indicators for the genre. Christian Cinema was the first Transactional Video On-Demand platform launched to serve families of faith with apps for Apple, Roku, Android and Amazon devices. Bobby led the company into one of 2010’s Inc. 5000 leading businesses in America. Bobby successfully led the sale of Christian Cinema, LLC to form the Giving Company, a global non-profit faith and family media network where he brought in Dove.org. These two companies are now with Cinedigm.

Bobby joined PureFlix from January 2023, for six short months. He utilized his experience in faith-based and family-friendly content development to create impactful media for PureFlix’s audience.

His extensive network of investors facilitates crucial funding, allowing them to broaden their reach with high-quality content. Similarly, Bobby’s connections with independent Christian filmmakers enriched their creative prowess, fostering collaborative storytelling and diverse narratives.

Armed with insights from over 5000 faith-based films, Bobby guided their content strategy, aligning it with audience preferences and successful genre evolution. This knowledge helped them stay attuned to their viewers' needs, providing relevant, resonating content. An exciting part of his role was aiding in the merger between Great American Media and PureFlix, which concluded June 14, 2023.

Starting July 1, 2023, Bobby joined his brother’s company Kingdom Story Company to head up International Partnerships for theatrical releases. Bobby also heads up Television for Kingdom Story Company, a new area for the company. Bobby first worked with his brother Kevin in 1999 producing a half dozen films together up until 2015. Kingdom Story Company has a first look deal with Lionsgate
