Event Details

Join us for a free, in-person Landowner Resources Workshop where you'll learn about the Local Food Purchase Agreement (LFPA), which helps local, regional, and socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers by purchasing local foods and distributing them to underserved communities. The SC Department of Agriculture (SCDA) uses the LFPA to help South Carolina farmers scale up, find new markets, and connect with distributors, strengthening the local food system now and in the future.

The LFPA helps maintain and improve food supply chain resiliency for South Carolina farmers and helps distribute healthy foods to underserved counties across the state. Other benefits of the LFPA include:

  • Increases the consumption of local food and build and expand economic opportunity for local and underserved producers, farmers and ranchers
  • Allows applicants to tailor food distribution to the needs of the population and feeding programs, including food banks, and organizations that serve underserved communities
  • Expands market opportunities for socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers, such as Black, Hispanic, Veteran, and Women farmers

A SCDA representative will serve as guest speaker who will discuss the details of LFPA and how to apply and enroll in the program. Regional resource providers including the SC Food Hub Network, SC Forestry Commission, and SC Small Business Development Center will also provide relevant resource materials to attendees.

A free dinner will be provided and limited seats are available. Registration is required.
