Meet Sophie Doyle, Founder of THE FABLE: SILK SHIRTS

In 2015, Sophie Doyle founded The Fable, but the journey began a year earlier when she left her role at L'Oréal Luxury to embark on something new. From an ashram to Jaipur, Rajasthan, a series of chance encounters led her to a small, family-run textile factory. There, she discovered the possibility of creating a product she had long been drawn to—the silk shirt.

For the first two years, The Fable produced silk shirts in Jaipur, India, partnering with an ethical, family-run factory. As the brand grew, so did the need for greater production capacity. In August 2017, Sophie made the strategic decision to shift production to Shanghai, a global leader in silk manufacturing with deep historical ties to the fabric. The factory was carefully chosen for its ethical practices and specialization in silk clothing, ensuring that each shirt is crafted to the highest quality by well-cared-for tailors.
