Elderwerks and Transitions Hospice has put together a week-long learning continuing education on dementia topics during lunch. Choose the days you'd like to attend. The cost is $5.00 per CE event or a total of $25 for the week. This replaces our annual McHenry Dementia Conference held the second Wednesday in October.

    Nancie Golnick Dorjath has been practicing law since 1997. She began her legal career handling many different aspects of Estate Planning Law. She is dedicated to working hard for individuals in order to protect their assets and plan for an uncertain future. She is a VA Accredited Attorney who also does a great deal of work and consultation within the Elder Law community.

    Dr. Kapur graduated from Benedictine University in 2002 with a B.S in Molecular Biology. She then attended medical school at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in 2006. She became board certified in Internal Medicine in 2010. In 2012, she completed her palliative and hospice fellowship at the Rush University Medical Center/Cook County/Midwest hospice program. Dr. Kapur started her career as a geriatric subacute rehab and long-term care physician for Dreyer Medical Clinic (now Advocate Aurora Healthcare). She conducted palliative care consults in all Aurora/Naperville nursing homes while operating a palliative care clinic at Rush Copley's cardiology suite.

    Dr. Joshua LaVigne is a clinical neuropsychologist and the director of NeuroClinic and Assessments. He received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee and completed his fellowship in neuropsychology with Neurocare. In his practice, Dr. LaVigne specializes in the evaluation and diagnosis of brain injury, illness, and dysfunction. He is the president of the board for Mental Health Resource League, a non-profit organization that raises money for mental health treatment causes in the county. He is the physician sponsor for the McHenry County chapter of Think First, a national brain and spinal chord injury prevention program and affiliate staff Northwestern Hospital in McHenry and Woodstock. He is also a member of the Leadership of Greater McHenry County and the McHenry County Traumatic Brain Injury Task Force.

    Michael joined Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center in May 2020 as a Community Engagement Coordinator. Michael develops and executes recruitment plans for clinical research, facilitates communication, including face-to-face contact, with all individuals interested in research activities after educational presentations or inquiries.

    Prior to Rush University Medical Center, Michael has held various positions in the aging field while obtaining a Master of Arts degree in Gerontology from Concordia University Chicago in 2017.

    His dementia experience includes answering a 24/7 helpline fielding questions from distraught constituents. Michael shares a passion for older adults and those who might be affected by Dementia. He enjoys providing education and assistance to potential research participants.

    Chris is Elderwerks nurse/trainer offering community and professional education. She has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry. From bedside nursing to education, Chris brings a cross section of experience. As adjunct faculty at a local community college, Chris helped develop and implement curriculum. Holding positions of Director of Staff education and Resident wellness, Chris soon learned her passion surrounded the arena of education of Dementia, and became a certified dementia educator so that staff could learn about the disease, leading to a more positive interactions between staff and the person living with dementia

    Chris is also available for various onsite and offsite trainings related to IDPR regulations as well as other relevant topics related to senior living.

    In Chris’s spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Russ and her seven grandchildren who fondly call her ”GiGi”.
