Join us for an evening of film, healing, music, and community at PASSION + PROGRESS: Community Screening & Party. This immersive event is an extension of Larry Powell's project, PASSION—a transformative multimedia project that amplifies Black, Black LGBTQ+ voices through live audio storytelling, theater, and film. This event brings the project's mission to life, offering a space for connection, reflection, and collective curiosity, understanding, breathing and play. More than a single project, PASSION is a groundbreaking platform and ecosystem dedicated to centering underrepresented realities in media. Through the telling of three L.A. Stories, we hold and explore family dynamics, grief, mental health, and systemic challenges, illuminating the complexity and nuances of Black LGBTQ+ healing and JOY.

What to Expect:

• Film Screening: A special preview of "The Daddy Issue," examining themes of redlining, the 1980s drug epidemic, and their impact on Black queer identity and family. Starring Larry Powell, J. August Richards, and Joy DeMichelle, directed by Devere Rogers, and made by a small army of incredible collaborators at Television City in July 2024. **Mature Audiences, Adult Language**
• Passionate Community Conversations: Thought-provoking discussions with artists, activists, and mental health professionals on social progress, creativity, and community.
• Healing Garden: Plant literal seeds of intention in a space to process and reflect, connecting deeply with soil, plants, and rocks.
• Shared Food, Drink, Music & Healing Vibes: Gather in celebration and connection with surprise guest artists to create a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.
