The Maryland International Agriculture & Environment Conference is the result of the effort of Gerardo Martinez, a businessman, Maryland farmer, Naval Academy graduate, husband and father of two children, who is committed to sustainable farming.

The vision for this international conference is to be an international catalyst that will result in developing relationships with like-minded individuals, local and global partners who understand the importance of sustainable farming practices and the environment. The goal is to make the Maryland International Agriculture and Environment Conference the focus of an international movement dedicated to the awareness of sustainable farming. Our mission is to highlight timely global topics, share best practices and to bring together the best and brightest minds in the agriculture and environmental sectors in our conference workshops.

The Salvadoran American Chamber of Commerce of the Washington, DC, Metropolitan Area (SACOC) was founded in 2001 as a non-profit business organization. The founders were part of a coalition of entrepreneurs whose sole purpose was to create a unified organization to promote trade, investment, and joint ventures.

Our goal is to empower Salvadoran Americans to achieve their full potential by providing access to resources, education, and mentorship. We believe that by working together, we can create a brighter future for ourselves and our community.

TAD is a community of three consulting organizations.

The DoMas Group, Appmigos, and DAPA, driven by the shared belief that by coming together their service offerings are expanded; and they and those they come in contact with, evolve into better people and better organizations. At TAD we work holistically and cyclically; refining our internal practices to meet our clients where they’re at and journey upwards together. Holistically means that we guide our clients to focus on their business prosperity, their presence at home, and their personal lives in a cyclical journey of adapting, improving, and growing.

Wild Kid Acres, LLC and The Wild Kid Foundation are devoted to Providing Farm Based Educational Experiences, Inspiring Community Involvement and Creating Opportunities for Lifelong Learning.

Wild Kid Acres is owned by a Minority, Veteran and Beginning farmer, Gerardo Martinez. The 5 acres Anne Arundel County farm property was purchased in 2019. Upon purchasing the property, Gerardo and his family set out to convert the unofficial dump into a thriving homestead using Climate-Smart Agricultural practices. The family built the home and all the infrastructure surrounding the farm by hand. Originally from the inner city and migrant families themselves, Gerardo and his family also wanted to ensure that their new homestead could serve as a model for other young families looking to find alternative ways to redevelop properties.

The Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) is a unit of Maryland State government. The Department was formed in 1972 on the basis of agriculture's growing importance and impact to the economy of the state.

Headquarters of MDA is at 50 Harry S. Truman Parkway in Annapolis, Maryland and branch offices are located at several strategic sites around the state in order to serve local needs.

Many activities of the MDA are regulatory in nature, others are assigned to a category of public service and some are educational or promotional in scope. All are intended to provide the maximum protection possible for the consumer, protect the environment and promote the economic well-being of farmers, food and fiber processors and businesses engaged in agricultural related operations.

Currently the Maryland Department of Agriculture is comprised of three operating units:

Office of Plant Industries and Pest Management
Office of Resource Conservation​

The Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC) provides science-based knowledge to meet the environmental challenges of the 21st century. SERC leads research on coastal ecosystems—where the land meets the sea—to inform real-world decisions for wise policies, best business practices, and a sustainable planet.

SERC research is urgent. The world’s coastal zones are home to more than 70 percent of the global population and experience intense economic activity. The rate of environmental change is accelerating at an alarming rate. Since its creation in 1965, SERC has been conducting peer-reviewed research to understand the causes and consequences of rapid change in the Chesapeake Bay and around the world.
