In this members exclusive CEU program, explore different types of self-care strategies and teach evidence based breathing techniques: single nostril, restorative, and energizing breaths, that you can use for yourself and your clients. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the anatomy of breathing , practice new tools in an active learning setting, and leave with practical resources to support both personal and professional wellness.


Learning Objectives:

  • Describe three types of self-care strategies and the anatomy of breathing to support personal and client wellness.
  • Demonstrate three breathing techniques, single nostril, restorative, and energizing; and apply them in stress management and daily routines.
  • Evaluate mental health resources and develop a personalized or client-centered self-care plan integrating evidence-based breathing practices.

    Patty Sellner

    Early Intervention Spevialist at ATI Worksite solutions

    Patty has been a Licensed Athletic Trainer with over 25 years with experience in the three West Michigan high Schools settings. She embraced an opportunity to gain experience and learn new things in the industrial setting. She is currently working within ATI Worksite Solutions organization, imbedded within the workforce of a large utility. She enjoys building out bold and innovative programs. Patty considers herself a teacher and life-long learner at heart at heart but also a relationship builder who finds immense joy in building connections within her network and stakeholders. She is a big picture thinker often referred to as the wild and crazy ideas person by her supervisor, while using her experience to build meaningful programs within her client site in the areas of Ergonomic, Biomechanics, Health and Wellbeing with the primary focus being injury prevention. Patty is an avid kayaker and audio-book enthusiast that can be found throughout the Spring and Summer in her cutting garden growing bouquets to give to her friends and family.

    Brie Furgerson

    Brianna Furgerson is an Athletic Trainer who has been working in the Industrial setting of Utility Construction for almost 5 years. She spent several years as a clinician in a Spinal Cord and Traumatic Brain Injury rehab facility after working at Oakland University following grad school. After suffering a cervical spine injury from a car accident in 2016 and many unsuccessful years of conventional treatment, she stepped into the world of alternative therapies. Brianna found relief once gaining an RYT-200 certification for yoga and further specialized certifications in Pre/Postnatal yoga and Adaptive yoga, which she utilized extensively in the SCI community. Since then, Brianna has gained interest in functional health, nutrition, and mental health. Utilizing her carpet bag of acquired skills, she has successfully implemented basic yoga and breathing techniques to her current utility employees while providing them with health & wellness lifestyle adjustments. Brianna has spent a significant amount of time discussing mental health wellness with employees, many who are former veterans looking to be understood. Outside of work, Brianna enjoys spending time with her
    husband and children kayaking, gardening, reading, and learning about functional medicine therapies.
