Generative AI, the technology behind tools like ChatGPT, have made quite the splash in the past year to say the least. While there are many practical applications for these technologies from writing emails to creating lessons to learn just about anything, how can we use these tools in GIS and spatial analytics while still ensuring we deliver accurate results? In this workshop we will review five steps to rolling out generative AI in geospatial workflows, from simple and low risk, to more complex and in turn requiring more controls. We will review the current implementations of generative AI in geospatial tools and analysis, how to use them in your work, how to integrate them in deeper ways, and what the future holds.
