https://itachicago.orgAmanda is the Program Manager and Training Coordinator and a music therapist at the Institute for Therapy through the Arts. She received her Bachelors of Science degree from Keene State college and her Masters of Music Therapy from Western Michigan University. She completed her clinical internship in the Kalamazoo Public School district in an after-school based program working with at-risk students. She previously worked as the Lab Manager for the BRAIN (Brain, Research, and Interdisciplinary Neurosciences) Lab at Western Michigan University and as a private music therapist in the Kalamazoo area. Her clinical experience includes working with a variety of ages and populations including traumatic brain injury, at-risk children, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and developmental disabilities. Amanda has presented often in her role as Lab Manager for the BRAIN Lab, on topics including Music Therapy, and Music and The Aging Process. She has previously conducted research on music and pain perception, with other research interests including neuromusicology; the study of the effects of music on the brain.
