Event: Pensions Audit and Governance

Internal Auditors are tasked with the responsibility of providing independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve operations of pension funds. Achieving results can however be challenging considering the size of most pension funds in Kenya posing a threat to effective governance of such institutions. This workshop will explore how Internal Auditors can enhance and protect value of pension funds by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice, and insight. The workshop will provide insights of how this function can be outsourced effectively for pension funds that do not have an in-house Internal Audit function.
The workshop will cover:
- Legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Applicable policies and regulations and compliance.
- Governance features of audit, risk management and control processes.
- Overcoming challenges of designing and setting up Internal Audit functions.
- Role of Internal and External Audit in providing assurance.
- Global Internal Audit Standards: Key considerations.
- Practical applications on value addition of Internal Audit functions.
- Third-party assurance services.
- Effective Assurance reporting.
The workshop will be held from June 3-7, 2024, in Naivasha.Charges are KES 55,000 and KES 60,000 exclusive of VAT for members and non-members respectively. Members in attendance will earn 20 CPE Hours.

The Institute of Internal Auditors Kenya is an accredited training provider with the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA). The NITA registration number is NITA/TRN/558(25b).
