"The Global Risks Report explores some of the most severe risks we may face over the next decade, against a backdrop of rapid technological change, economic uncertainty, a warming planet and conflict. As cooperation comes under pressure, weakened economies and societies may only require the smallest shock to edge past the tipping point of resilience."

    Vanessa Thurlwell is currently a Senior Risk Consultant at Mondial Business and Risk Consultants and a director of Mondial Knowledge Solutions.

    Vanessa’s specialist skills include advisory and implementation at all phases of the risk management cycle, analysing risk management maturity and conducting gap analyses against risk frameworks, developing risk appetite and risk management frameworks, facilitating risk management activities including risk assessments, reporting, control assessments and conducting training at all levels in an organisation.

    Vanessa is also involved in many projects with the Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA). She acted as the Technical Advisor for BankSeta and IRMSA in the development of Risk Officer and Risk Practitioner qualifications and was awarded IRMSA’s Service Excellence award in 2013. Currently, she delivers a suite of training courses that IRMSA offers publicly, and she serves on a panel of IRMSA Board Exam developers for IRMSA’s CRM Practitioner and CRM Professional Board Exams. She achieved her CRM Prof designation in 2019.
