PWS Level II introduces the student to the broad concepts of community relations, verbal and written communications, and the mechanics of city hall, along with the relationship between staff and elected officials. Topics covered include presentation and verbal skills, government and community, legislation and authority, governance meeting mechanics, bylaws and policies, interaction with council, written reports to council, dealing with the media, customer service, labour relations, the hiring process and documentation, accounting and cost control, and the purchase and inventory management process for finance. The course is delivered through a series of lectures, in-class exercises, and discussions.
