Abstract:

The webinar will focus on how mental health practitioners stay up to date with the diversity of culture in our service to individuals and groups of individuals. Individual worldviews (Sue et. al, 2019) will also be emphasized, as our worldviews are fundamentally the lens we see the world through. It is this lens that either facilitates or impedes therapeutic growth in our work with our clients. The R/CID model (racial /cultural, identity development) will also be explored (Sue & Sue, 1999).

Learning Objectives:

1) to understand one's world view

2) to understand the R/CID Model

3) to understand and explore practice challenges in how one's world view and R/CID affect therapeutic interventions
