AlixPartners' Annual PE Leadership survey focuses on private equity (PE) firms and their portfolio companies (portcos). The first of these reports released 10 years ago focused on CEO succession by identifying the usual practices—and the best practices—in finding and developing the next generation of top executives. Since then, the study has broadened to include topics like culture, adaptation to disruption, and leadership strategies for the first 100 days. As a result, PE executives have consistently said leadership effectiveness has become the most important lever for creating value in their portfolios.

In this discussion we will discuss the five key findings of the research, including where PE firms and their portcos are aligned and misaligned. Our conversation will focus on leadership effectiveness and resilience, strengthening leadership alignment, supporting talent development, and integrating leadership and culture into value creation strategies at every stage of the deal life cycle.

Don Moseley is an accomplished CEO and CHRO. He has successfully foundered and grown a HR consulting firm that assists companies in transformation or high growth environments. Don has a 30 year career of success in assisting organizations in achieving success. He now takes his expertise and experience and shares it with clients globally.
Don was an HR Executive and sitting CHRO for 20 years. As an HR practitioner He focused on being a strong business executive first and foremost. Don is a business executive with experience leading global Human Resource organizations and partnering with executives to optimize the deployment of human capital as a competitive advantage. He has demonstrated success in aligning and integrating human capital strategy with business strategy during periods of rapid growth, restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions. He has a strong track record of building effective HR teams focused on strategic outcomes while delivering operational results. Don is a transformational leader with excellent executive presence, relationship building, and influence skills.
Don has been a Chief Human Resources Officer for both Global Public and PE backed companies. Don has worked across industries and had success in each. Don spent 10 years with Cardinal Health where he worked in a variety of Human Resources leadership roles to include the Sr. Vice President of Global Talent Management, Organization Development and HR Strategy
He possesses in-depth knowledge of all HR areas from a process and functional standpoint. He progressed through various HR roles based on demonstrated leadership and a reputation for creating a talent pipeline of “ready now” successors at key senior leadership positions, effectively deploying organizational design to enhance business outcomes, and establishing a collaborative culture. Don has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions. He also is a champion of change and innovation, with success in automating HR processes and building HR capability.
Don has a Bachelor of Arts (BA), Psychology from Augustana College and holds a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Lake Forest. In addition, he holds Executive Education certificates from both Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
