Event Details

Ms. Shilpi Jha, IPR specialist of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), New Delhi will be meeting with AMCHAM members. USPTO is the federal agency for granting U.S. patents and registering trademarks. It seeks to promote effective IP protection for U.S. businesses worldwide. USPTO also provides training, and capacity building programs designed to protect IP and encourage the development of strong IP enforcement regimes by U.S. trading partners.


Ms. Jha will meet AMCHAM members to discuss IP enforcement in Sri Lanka and current challenges faced in the industry.

    Shilpi Jha, senior counsel, is a policy and legal advisor on all aspects of intellectual property (IP) issues for India and other South Asian countries. Ms. Jha serves as lead IP specialist for Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. She is responsible for monitoring, consulting, advising, analyzing, and reporting on IP in those countries.

    Ms. Jha started her career at Bhasin & Co. as a litigator at the Delhi High Court. Prior to joining the USPTO, she was the IP lead at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), where her primary responsibilities included providing input to the government of India on policies related to IP protection and enforcement. She coordinated with national-level committees for IP at CII and organized national and international workshops on IP matters.
