AANZ Runway :: Wellington

Fundamentals matter - and we are all about fundamentals

and long-term value creation !!

Wellington Runway Event !

Getting the fundamentals right at the start paves the way for long-term value creation further down the track. While planning for and mapping these things out is not always as fun as closing an investment round, the fundamentals right plays a huge part in creating success.

This is a full day of sharing insights, practical advice and war stories to help you plan for and scale value. And we make sure there are lots of opportunities to network with each other and make valuable connections.

Runway is designed for early stage startups - their founders and existing and budding investor directors.

It will be held in Wellington and includes:

  • three sessions fronted by highly experienced investors, founders and members of the early stage ecosystem
  • our incredibly noisy and fun speed dating session - which is not about pitching but just a great way to meet everyone in the room!
  • and at the end of the day we provide one more chance to make new friends over a glass of wine.

WORKSHOPS

Valuation methodolgies and rationale

Dave Allison (Angel HQ), Sharon Bryant (early stage investor/director) and Cynthia Hunefeld (CEO of Evithe Biotechnology).

Determining an early stage valuation for a company is part science and part 'dark art'. For many getting the valuation just right is a critical component of the investment offer. For others, valuation is just one of many aspects to consider when considering backing a company.

Capital strategy planning

Marcel van den Assum (Angel HQ), Mark Vivian (Partner at Movac) and Jo Mills (Co-founder of Fuel 50).

Landing the capital strategy for an early stage company is so important. It creates discipline around ensuring value is built and helps ensure value inflection points are achieved. In this session investors share what they expect to see from a company and the founding team when it comes to a compelling capital strategy.

Investor relations and portfolio management

Ngaio Merrick (Co-Founder at Nuance Connected Capital), Lance Wiggs (Director at 2040 Ventures) and Emily Blythe (Founder at Pyper Vision).

Communication with investors and stakeholders is super important. But what should you include in your comms? What do your investors need and what role does all this play in when it comes to management of their portfolios of startup companies, particularly when it comes to follow on investment decisions.
