SABABC 2024 Fall Conference

SABABC is pleased to announce the details of its marquee event, the Annual Fall Conference. The Fall Conference will be taking place on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at the Surrey Civic Hotel from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, to be followed by a post Conference networking mixer.

The Annual Conference is the premier professional development and networking event for SABABC members. Bringing together attendees from across BC, the Conference will host a number of lawyers, students and paralegals in different practice areas, including corporate counsel, public counsel, law firm partners and associates.

We are pleased to announce the following lineup of panels and speakers:

• Keynote Fireside Chat with Marshall Pawar (MEP Business Counsel).
• Litigation Best Practices presented by Judge Rita Bowry (BC Provincial Court), Seema Lal (Singleton Reynolds), and Adnan Habib (Baker Newby LLP).
• Developments on the Law Society of British Columbia and the Single Legal Regulator, presented by Jeevyn Dhaliwal, K.C. (Larlee Rosenberg).
• Life as In-House Counsel presented by Ramneek Padda (Telus), Raj Dhatt (Herschel Supply Co.) and Sonia Athwal (City of Vancouver).
• Mental Health for South Asian Legal Professionals, presented by Rupindher Sidhu, Abbotsford Clinic Director, Skylark Counselling Clinic.
• A Legacy of Progress: SALCBC's path forward, presented by Meena Dhillon (South Asian Legal Clinic of British Columbia).

This year, we are pleased to announce that Conference content is expanding with parallel breakout room sessions where interested attendees can learn and discuss about more substantive legal topics. The 2024 Fall Conference will feature the following breakout room sessions:

• Disputing an Insurance Denial, presented by Rosy Arora (Hammerco Lawyers LLP).
• Trends in Family Law, presented by Amanda Johl (Illuma Law).
• Estate and Succession Issues for South Asian Clients (Sunny Dharni - BTM Lawyers LLP).
