Mr. Unathi Kamlana
Commissioner at FSCA
Unathi Kamlana is the Commissioner of the FSCA since 1 June 2021. Prior to this he held various senior roles in financial sector policy and regulation, including as Chief Director: Financial Markets & Stability at the National Treasury, Deputy Registrar of Banks at the South African Reserve Bank (SARB), and Head – Policy, Statistics & Industry Support at the Prudential Authority – SARB.
He has also served on various regulatory forums, including as a member of the Policy Development Group (PDG) of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) and the Policy Development Committee (PDC) of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), and is currently a member of the Regional Consultative Group for Sub Saharan Africa of the Financial Stability Board (FSB).
Mr Kamlana holds a BCom (Economics) from Rhodes University, a HDip (Tax Law) from Wits University, Master of Commerce degree in Taxation from Rhodes University and a Master of Science Finance degree in Economic Policy from the University of London, SOAS.
Mr. Zakhele Gininda
Lead Financial Markets Specialist (Financial Markets Department) at SARB
Zakhele heads the SARB Benchmarks and Advanced Analytics (SBA) and Market Intelligence divisions of the Financial Market Department. SBA is responsible for the administration of ZARONIA and the effort to reform domestic reference rates. As such, Zakhele is intimately involved in all aspects of the JIBAR transition and participates in the structures of the Market Practitioners Group and the Reference Rate Oversight Committee. Prior to joining the SARB in 2017, he spent over a decade performing various roles in prime broking at Nedbank CIB and Deutsche Bank before focusing on corporate and business strategy for about 3.5 years at Nedbank CIB.
Zakhele holds a Master of Development Finance (Stellenbosch University), an MSc in Finance (Quantitative Finance) (University of London), and an MPhil in Corporate Strategy (University of Pretoria). He obtained his Bachelor of Business Science at the University of Cape Town.
