Following the success of our Energy Forum last year, we are excited to announce the 'BMCC Excellence Showcase Series: Showcasing UK Technologies in Energy Transition', a sharing session on energy transition with an emphasis on showcasing UK technology. We are honoured to have our esteemed members, Mott MacDonald and ARUP, share insights about Carbon Twin technology, an embodied carbon visualisation solution for the built environment, and strategies for low-carbon hydrogen integration.

Mott MacDonald will be presenting its new technology, Carbon Twin, an embodied carbon visualisation solution for the built environment. It is a digital twin platform for embodied carbon, uses human-centred design to understand carbon, simply and quickly. Its rich 3D visuals and intuitive features empower real-time intelligent decision-making throughout the design, for all stakeholders, from engineers to executives. The former gold mining settlement of Kidston in North Queensland (Australia) is transforming into a renewable energy hub integrating solar and wind generation with pumped storage hydropower that will help the State achieve its Renewable Energy Targets of 70% by 2032. Carbon Twin was developed to help understand carbon hotspots in the design.

For ARUP, they will speak about 'Strategies for Low Carbon Hydrogen Integration: A Comprehensive Overview of Arup's Energy System Modelling and Case Studies'. In recent years, Arup has developed several hydrogen strategies and roadmaps for public sector and private sector clients alike based on energy systems modelling. The public sector has used these strategies to inform policy decisions and priorities for channelling financial support, and corporations have used similar strategies to identify opportunities in the market to capitalise on the global trend towards decarbonisation. This session will provide an overview of the technologies that Arup has developed to analyse the energy system and identify the roles that hydrogen could play in a range of unique markets. It will also present case studies of projects where this has been done.
